Us

Sitting aside two uniformed individuals
Building separate fantasies to sample
Their mutual raft ruptured by a rift
Of pride, and of error a whiff
He has no right to infiltrate
No way he can bypass the gate
of her fury and his fate
common fear a heavy weight
Emotions quite profound spill in
Plans and pacts – ideas to win
a lady surrounded (and yet within
with loneliness pounded
A harmless nut? to a certain extent
he had the words but the words got bent
he paid his debt he paid his rent
he counted every cent he spent
read on, read on, subtract, allure
feed on, feed on, a selfish boor
No understanding needed
Prejudice overpowers, pardon pleaded
My love awakes from her sweet sleep
My lips hunger for hers to meet
and at her magic touch
the world is gone….and its just: us.
